Director's Notes
A ghost light is a single bare bulb light that is left on the stage after the theatre is cleared and lights are turned off. They say it’s to keep people from falling off the stage in the dark. But the real reason is to keep the theatre ghosts away. If a theatre has any history and character, it has a ghost. At Barter, we have many stories of ghosts and hauntings.more >

The Woman in Black
Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt; Based on the novel by Susan Hill
"Will you survive your encounter with the ghost of the woman in black?" "The only way to get rid of an old ghost that continues its haunting is to exorcise it!" The idea jumps into the mind of Arthur Kipp: he must tell his story - get it on paper, every detail, and purge it. Maybe then, the woman with the extremely pale face and thin, transparent flesh tautly stretched across fragile bones dressed in all black will leave him alone. Be transported into this haunting story - but be careful, those who have seen the woman in black have not lived to tell the tale!
